 Connecticut River Conservancy

The Connecticut River Conservancy is a voice for the Connecticut River watershed, from source to sea. CRC collaborates with partners across four states to protect and advocate for rivers and educate and engage communities. CRC conducts migratory fish surveys, replaces dams and culverts, advocates for increased fish passage facilities and works to restore fish habitat.

They restore important habitat and fish connectivity between streams, rivers and lakes. Their projects improve water quality, help increase abundance of fish, and sustain the economic and recreational benefits derived from fishing and recreating in our public waters.

CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection manages and oversees many of the fish passages facilities in the Connecticut River Watershed. The Fisheries Division of CT DEEP is responsible for making recommendations for fish and aquatic habitat protection, enhancement, restoration and mitigation as well as creating management plans that impact fish and fish habitat.

FERC’s Mission: Assist consumers in obtaining reliable, safe, secure, and economically efficient energy services at a reasonable cost through appropriate regulatory and market means, and collaborative efforts. The Connecticut River watershed has dozens of active hydropower dams and two pumped storage projects that are regulated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

Connecticut River Joint Commission

New Hampshire’s Connecticut River Valley Resource Commission, created by the legislature in 1987, and Vermont’s Connecticut River Watershed Advisory Commission, similarly created in 1988, were directed to cooperate with each other to preserve and protect the resources of the Connecticut River Valley, and to guide its growth and development.
